Roehampton Drama alumna, Rachel John is set to launch a new series of events at London’s Shaw Theatre, in which musical theatre actors perform music that showcases their life stories.

Singing at the Shaw will run bimonthly and will give actors the chance to curate a set list that represents their journey to success. Rachel John, who was in the original London cast of Hamilton, will be the first performer as part of the series, on the 28 April. It will be John’s first solo concert and will have musical direction from Stefan Brown.

Rachel John graduated from Roehampton in 2002 after completing her degree in Drama and Theatre Studies with English Literature. Since then she has gone on to perform in an array of West End shows including; The Lion King, Sister Act, We Will Rock You, Rent, Memphis, The Bodyguard and Hamilton. Rachel was welcomed back to the University last year for a Q&A with students. A video of Rachel reflecting on her time at Roehampton can be found here
