Graduating in 2012 with a BA Hons in Dance Studies, Shaun is an established London choreographer, and showcased his work We Stand Alone Together that explores the theme of facing dark times and where people find their strength.

Shaun Dillon said on his creative process, “Emotional complexity and being able to connect to the work is really important to me. I want to be moved by dance works and to have the audience leave with an experience. Creating choreography is a process in which I work alongside the dancers to strike a balance between showing the best of their talents whilst also maintaining my own choreographic voice and movement qualities.”

Shaun Dillon has extensive choreographic and teaching experience where his first professional work ‘Rise’ an exploration of the 5 stages of grief gained four star reviews. He has created a short work for called Tidal for the ‘Lord of the Flies’ cast in London in collaboration with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Re:Bourne. He also has created a work Where We Are that was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016 and has recently been programmed into April’s Homegrown Festival at Battersea Arts Centre.

His advice to students pursuing their dance degree is “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes or get something wrong, this provides you with a great opportunity to learn more about yourself and the artist you can become. It’s also important for success in dance to stay driven and motivated, be pro-active, move forward and support those around you.”

The Department of Dance is rated number one for dance research in the UK (REF 2014). The Department offers an outstanding BA Dance Studies degree that enable students to be a part of an immersive, supportive dance culture enabling them to launch their career within the dance field.
