Mya Onwugbonu is a multi-hyphenate and multi-award winning creative. With published credits as a writer and poet, she ventured into writing her debut spoken word theatre production, Hear Me Now.

With the constant support of the young company, Burnt Orange Theatre, together they embarked on a journey to bring the play from paper to the stage. It was first showcased at Southwark Playhouse in November 2022; it was a sold-out show and featured amazing audience testimonials during the live post-show. However, this wasn't the end of the show's journey, it had the pleasure of a 4-show run at VAULT Festival 2023, where it sold-out every night and won a coveted VAULT award for Show of the Week 2023.

As both the director and writer of Hear Me Now, Mya had an invaluable experience at The Black BritishTheatre Awards 2023, as the newest recipient of the Best Director Award. Mya Onwugbonu is grateful from the mass amount of support from her community and thankful to all of her experiences that has allowed her to reach this point in her career so early on.
