The Bloomberg terminals in the new Trading Room will provide students with the opportunity to work with one of the most widely used financial services system software.

Professor Sunitha Narendran, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, welcomed guests to the celebration while thanking Pemberton Asset Management, including Pemberton guests Richard Meehan and Annabel Lau, for their sponsorship and support which has helped make the Trading Room a reality. She also acknowledged Elena Erina, who represented Bloomberg, for their help and support.

Professor Sunitha Narendran said: “We can now bring the real world of finance into the classroom and provide our students with access to the same information platform used by traders, investment bankers, portfolio managers and brokers.

“Moreover, hands on experience in using Bloomberg will help boost students’ credentials in the graduate job market. We are grateful to Pemberton for sponsoring this exciting new development to unlock opportunities for our students.”

Pemberton’s sponsorship is a key part of its agenda for promoting social mobility within the investment management industry.

Symon Drake-Brockman, Managing Partner at Pemberton said: “Our affiliation with Roehampton Business School and our support for this excellent initiative are a natural extension of Pemberton’s work in the wider community and underlines our commitment to social mobility.

"Enhancing the students’ learning journey and enabling them to gain practical, real-life experience equips them with basic skills, knowledge and the confidence needed to transition to their potential future careers in financial services.”

During the event, there was a demonstration of the Bloomberg software by Dr Irma Malafronte, Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, supported by Dr Tri Tri Nguyen, and followed by a Q&A.

Dr Mamata Parhi, Head of Accounting, Finance, Economics and Governance in the Business School said: “As part of their studies, Roehampton Business School students will learn how to use important analytical functions in the Terminal, conduct economic research and analysis, and benefit from a wide-range of pre-built analytical models.”
