Roehampton Law School hosts inspiring Annual Law Fair

The Roehampton Law School hosted a lively Law Fair on 15 February 2023 with almost 100 students in attendance.

The Roehampton Law School holds the fair annually as an opportunity for both postgraduate and undergraduate students from across the School to come together to hear from alumni, employers, and professional membership organisations.

The event kicked off in Grove House with a welcome address from the Vice Chancellor, Professor Jean-Noël Ezingeard, followed by an inspiring introduction from Ms Janet Cooper OBE.

Janet is a successful corporate lawyer, Vice-Chair on the council of Roehampton University and has been a Trustee and Vice President of the UK Board of UN Women, which is the United Nations entity supporting gender equality globally. Janet was made an OBE in the 2017 New Year’s Honours list for services to equality, women’s empowerment and employee share ownership.

A morning networking fair provided students with a chance to gain networking skills and make career contacts. Exhibitors on the day included the Crown Prosecution Service, The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, CILEX - the professional body for Chartered Legal executives, legal practitioner, paralegals & apprentices, as well as six law firms.

The afternoon consisted of a series of informative and inspiring sessions including a Legal Representatives Panel hosted by Roehampton Lecturer Ms Reshma Derasari and a session on the SQE by Roehampton Lecturer Mr Sunit Tejura and BPP University.

The finale of the day was an alumni panel hosted by the Roehampton University’s Law Society.

Student Meg Celiku, President of the Law Society, who co-organised the event said: “The Annual Law Fair is one of the biggest events of the year for the Law Society. It’s a great opportunity for our students to begin networking with employers and other providers.”
