Roehampton Law School is working together with the School of Law of Mykolo Romerio Universititas in Vilnius, Lithuania to offer two modules intended to build course participants' confidence in understanding and interpreting English common law.

The participants from Vilnius' legal community work with Roehampton staff in understanding the principles of the English legal system and applying those principles in the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts and commercial transactions.

Dr Giles Proctor, head of the Roehampton Law School, is teaching two common law courses in Lithuania this week with a pilot cohort of fifteen students. Participants will have an introduction to the English legal system, and corporate and commercial contracts and transactions. The students will learn concepts and principles of the English legal system, professional ethics and lawyering skills. The courses reflects the Roehampton Law School ethos of ‘law in practice’ and include interactive group work as well as personal development work with students.

Dr Giles Proctor said “We are delighted to be part of this programme, which affirms the University's vision, and to welcome pupils from Lithuania. Our ‘law in practice’ approach gives students the opportunity to gain practical law experience and increase their knowledge of the common law.”

Roehampton Law School provides students with the skills they need to succeed, through teaching that focuses on how to practise the law and applying it to everyday life.
