Heather brings with her a wealth of experience in academia as an HEA Fellow. Prior to joining Roehampton, Heather worked in several lecturing roles, most recently as Senior Lecturer in Mental Health at the University of Hertfordshire. As well as being a qualified Mental Health Nurse, Heather has an MSc in Public Health and a PgCert in Research. She professionally specialises in substance misuse and addiction with prison service users and with ex-military service personnel with PTSD.

On joining Roehampton’s Nursing Education team, Heather has said she is excited to be part of a department that is passionate about teaching and learning, as well as supporting the wellbeing and employability of all students through its inclusive and diverse teaching. She is also looking forward to contributing to Roehampton’s research programme and being part of a research-led teaching institution.

She has said the highlight of each year is seeing nurses graduate and achieve their degrees. For those considering a career in nursing, Heather quotes American scientist George Washington Carver; “How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these”.

The University of Roehampton offers an MSci in Adult and Mental Health Nursing, a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing and a BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing.
