Our Nutrition team in the School of Life and Health Sciences hosted a careers fair for current students to showcase some of the career paths they can pursue after graduation.

The fair began with a talk from our careers service on how they can support our students and alumni in a range of ways, including guidance in applying for jobs, enhancing CVs and ensuring it'll pass digital screening, as well as practice for interviews. They also discussed our Summer Programme which runs across the University to inspire our students and give them a head start in today's competitive graduate job market through a blend of short courses, webinars, workshops and one-to-one sessions.

Academics spoke about working as a Dietitian and as an Association for Nutrition Registered Nutritionist, including their career paths working in research and clinical practice, what the work includes and how our students can achieve this.

Lizaveta Hilman, graduate from our MSc Clinical Nutrition, returned to Roehampton to discuss working at Atlas Biomed as their Head of Nutrition. Students also heard from representatives from Optibiotix Health regarding internships and work experience, and from Dr Michael Patterson and doctoral student Andrea Zick about studying at PhD level.

The fair ended with Dr Sue Reeves and Dr Yvonne Jeanes discussing the launch of their new book, The Study Skills Handbook for Nutritionists and Dietitians, written to help nutrition and dietetic students identify and develop the skills essential for academic and professional success.

Dr Sue Reeves said: "It was fantastic to see all our undergraduate and postgraduate students together and with so much enthusiasm and interest in our careers fair and book launch.  We are grateful to all our guest speakers and alumni who gave insights into their own careers and energized and inspired our students to start thinking about their own future careers in nutrition and all the exciting possibilities ahead of them.”

Our Life and Health Sciences degrees provide our students with the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their career ambitions. This includes our BSc Nutrition and Health, our MSc Clinical Nutrition, our MRes Nutrition and Metabolic Disorders and our MSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition.
