Work begins on Roehampton’s Clinical Simulation Centre

The first stages of work on the new Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC), where Roehampton's Nursing students will study, began in late May
The conversion of several classrooms in Grove House into the new Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) is well underway and work has now progressed to removing walls in order to create the larger spaces required for the CSC.
CSCs are a key part of nursing education, providing simulated versions of healthcare settings, such as hospital wards, home environments and consulting rooms. Clinical equipment and manikins are provided for demonstrating and practising the various clinical procedures that our students will use on placements and in their future careers as nurses.
Work will continue throughout the summer, with the CSC opening its doors to Roehampton's first cohort of nursing students in September 2019.
Paul Newcombe, Roehampton's Head of Nurse Education, said ‘The brand new CSC is just one part of the development of our exciting nursing programme. It will allow our students the space to safely practice primary and community care skills with other students, service users, role players and hi-tech patient simulators under the guidance of experienced clinical and academic staff’.
The CSC was designed by Ingleton Wood. The first stage of construction work is being undertaken by PG Marshall.
