The AUA is the professional association for staff in higher education administration and management services.

The AUA annual awards recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements of members. The Member of the Year award recognises the contribution of an individual member, with the judges looking for a high level of commitment and dedication to the AUA.

The judging panel acknowledged evidence of Emma's initiative and commitment to embedding AUA competencies and values institutionally. Emma has engaged a wide range of staff in AUA activity, along with instigating an AUA working group and a professional development programme, and the panel were impressed by how these two initiatives incorporated and embedded the AUA professional behaviours. In addition, work was done in regards to growing branch membership.

On her success, Emma says, "Aswell as receiving my AUA Fellowship, I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been awarded the member of the year award especially when the other nominees are such esteemed colleagues across the higher education sector. I have been an AUA member for many years and as the AUA advocate for Roehampton, I am committed to raising the profile of professional services staff and working to establish more development opportunities across the institution. We now have a growing AUA working group at Roehampton which is planning CPD activities for professional services staff and a mini-conference in the Autumn so look out for news on the portal!"

Accreditation and Graduates of the AUA PGCert

At the Awards the association also recognises newly accredited members and celebrates the graduating cohorts of the AUA PGCert in Higher Education Administration, Management and Leadership. This year Kelli Wolfe (Academic Services Manager for the School of Education) gained her PGCert and Mikaela Hoang (Programme Administrator in the School of Humanities) gained her accredited membership. Congratulations to both Kelli and Mikaela.
