The partnership launched this week with 30 bikes now available at the University campus in Roehampton, with scope to grow to 100. University of Roehampton students and local residents will be able to hire the bikes to make door to door journeys, as well as travel to local transport hubs.

Liam Hurley, Director of Strategy and External Relations at the University of Roehampton, said: “We are really excited to launch Lime e-bikes on campus. It provides an affordable, convenient and environmentally friendly transport option for our students, staff and the local community. Lime’s bikes run on 100% renewable electricity and our partnership with them further demonstrates the University’s ongoing commitment to making a difference in the fight against climate change.”

Hal Stevenson, Lime’s Public Affairs Manager for UK and Ireland said: “Lime has been helping Londoners get where they need to go in a safe and sustainable way for over three years now. We’re excited to be partnering with the University of Roehampton to offer our shared e-bikes to students and staff members, helping them to fight climate change with every push of the pedal”.

To access the scheme, users are required to download the Lime app, and scan the QR code on the bike to unlock it. There is a £1 bike unlock fee and the use of bikes are charged per minute starting from £0.15. Students and key workers can access a 50% discount on the cost of hiring the bikes - via Lime’s Access programme (sign up link here), making it a very affordable way to travel short distances.
