Our MSc Banking, Finance and Risk Management will help you develop the knowlege and skills to:

  • Conduct research in business and management
  • Understand wealth management solutions
  • Develop risk management strategies

The programme consists of the following pathways:

PG Diploma / MSc Banking, Finance and Risk Management

If you choose to do the full masters programme you will learn about international corporate finance, strategic investment and banking and wealth management. You will also complete modules looking at risk management and corporate governance, how to identify and manage risks and how to measure and monitor organisational resilience and sustainability.

On the MSc you will also develop practical research skills and undertake a consultancy project or research-based dissertation.

PG Cert Banking and Finance pathway

On this pathway you will focus solely on international corporate finance, strategic investment and banking and wealth management.

PG Cert Risk Management pathway

This pathway will cover risk management, corporate governance, and project risk appraisal. You will learn how to identify and manage risks and how to measure and monitor organisational resilience and sustainability.

Whichever pathway you choose, you will develop key skills in information searching, data collection, problem-solving, communications, and report-writing.

How you'll learn

Choose a pathway that works for you.

You'll work in high-spec facilities, like our Business Laboratory and Bloomberg Trading Room, and discuss current issues facing businesses and financial services in peer-to-peer debates and case studies.

You’ll also have the chance to pursue a consultancy project with either a multinational corporation or a prominent SME in London

Professional Development Programme

Through this mandatory, co-curricular module, you’ll practice and enhance your core skills in the following areas:

  • Presenting
  • Critical writing
  • Research

You’ll also work on negotiation techniques, developing the credibility of your arguments to give you the competitive edge.

Modules will be assessed by coursework assignments and you will apply your knowledge to specific business contexts.

Professional placement

If you want to apply academic theory to the real world of business before you graduate, you can also take an optional, paid placement in Year 2. Where possible, this will be tailored to your individual interests and career aspirations. But wherever your placement takes you, it will enable you to:

  • Learn on the job
  • Influence decisions, and
