Celebrating Dr Leigh Gibson’s re-election as President of the Food & Health Forum

Dr Gibson, Associate Professor in our School of Psychology, has been re-elected for further two years as the president of the Food and Health Forum, Royal Society of Medicine.

The forum’s purpose is to explore and develop, in the form of educational events, the relationships between diet, dietary ingredients and health, as well as the relationship between diet, behaviour, environment and health. Dr Gibson is an Associate Professor in Biopsychology and a Registered Nutritionist. He contributes to a broad range of modules across the School of Psychology and the School of Life and Health Sciences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, especially in the areas of health psychology, eating behaviour and nutrition. His current research is concerned with influences on appetite and food choice, and their interaction with stress, health, and cognitive and emotional well-being.  Dr Gibson has over 130 publications, which have been cited more than 13,000 times.

Dr Gibson said: “I am delighted that the Council of the Food and Health Forum, Royal Society of Medicine, has expressed their confidence in me in supporting my re-election.  The position allows me to interact with world experts in diet and health, and to have an impact in the way that this important area is included in the education of doctors and allied health professionals.”
