Roehampton Psychology experts hosted the first writing retreat in the arts and play therapies at The University of Roehampton as part of a pilot project this October. The two day event was designed to help delegates develop their writing skills for publications.

Roehampton Psychology experts hosted the first writing retreat in the arts and play therapies at The University of Roehampton as part of a pilot project this October. The two day event was designed to help delegates develop their writing skills for publications.

Run by Principal Lecturer, Michèle Wood and Principal Lecturer, Tessa Watson, other members of the University that delivered the workshop were Professor Anna Seymour and Dr Jean O’Callaghan from the Department of Psychology, and Sarah Taylor-Harman and Sara Hafeez from Library Services.

Tessa Watson said ‘This innovative workshop was incredibly successful in supporting our participants to creatively reflect on their identity as writers and develop in writing for publication’.

The Department of Psychology offers outstanding postgraduate programmes in the arts and play therapies including Art Psychotherapy, Dance Movement Psychotherapy, Dramatherapy, Music Therapy and Play Therapy. Graduates from the Arts and Play Therapies programmes go on to work with children, adults and older adults within a range of settings including hospice care, adoption and fostering, special schools, mental health in-patient and community services.
