Professor Cecilia Essau delivers keynote address at international psychopathology conference

Professor Essau will discuss the topic of ‘Addressing mental health needs in schools’ at the three-day conference, alongside several other Roehampton academics.
The 13th International Conference on Child and Adult Psychopathology will feature numerous speakers from universities the world over, including several from Roehampton. Organised by Professor Essau, the conference will explore the theme of ‘Enhancing resilience in children, young people and families through innovative research, prevention and service development’. Taking place in Sarawak, Malaysia, this is the first ICAAP to be held outside of London, and as such is sponsored by the government of Sarawak and the Sarawak Convention Bureau, alongside the University of Roehampton. Featured academics from Roehampton include:
- Dr Diane Bray, who will be delivering the welcoming remarks
- Dr Jonathan Isserow, who will run two workshops discussing the use of language in therapeutic work, and art therapy
- Lisa Gordon Clark, who will run a workshop on play therapy
- Dr Rebecca Lucas, discussing reading comprehension and developmental language disorders
- Dr Leigh Gibson, hosting a discussion on parental attitudes towards snacking;
- Dr Sue Reeves, presenting a ‘Nutritional analysis of children’s menus’ in British chain restaurants
In addition to organising the conference and giving one of the keynote lectures, Professor Essau will additionally present her paper on ‘Effects of the Super Skills for Life programme on emotion regulation’.
