The Student Leadership Programme #150leaders works with students to promote and develop leadership skills among future nurses, midwives and allied health professionals.

The programme includes residential events with workshops, lectures and seminars, a one-on-one coaching scheme and an online community of practice, where students can learn from leaders within the health and care sector, interact and debate with their peers, and be encouraged to put their leadership skills into practice.

Anna applied to promote her discipline of Dance Movement Psychotherapy amongst other allied healthcare students and professionals. She’s also passionate about supporting and encouraging others to gain the confidence they need to become leaders in their field too.

In her first few weeks on the programme, Anna has particularly valued meeting other students who are driven to learn, grow and make changes in healthcare, working with her mentor, and feeling empowered and encouraged to pursue her ideas. She's also valued the culture of collaboration and feedback amongst her peers, and has found the speakers at their September conference inspiring.

Anna added, for anyone considering applying “it’s a fantastic opportunity to network, get inspired and explore interdisciplinarity and how each person has something to bring to the group.” You can connect with Anna on Twitter if you’d like to discuss her experiences and applying.

Paul Newcombe, Director of Nurse Education at the University of Roehampton and our named member of the Council of Deans of Health added, “We are very proud of Anna's success in gaining a place on this highly competitive programme and look forward to hearing about her experience and achievements. We hope Anna is the first of many Roehampton students to embrace the opportunities offered through our membership of the Council of Deans of Health.”
