University of Roehampton co-hosts annual British Association for Counselling (BACP) Conference

Psychology academics, practitioners and students will gather next week in London for an international leading conference in counselling psychology which is co-hosted by the University of Roehampton and the British Association for Counselling (BACP).
In its twenty third year, The BACP Annual Research Conference 2018 entitled Counselling changes lives: Research that impacts practice will welcome academics, practitioners and students from twenty-three countries across the globe. Presentations, panels and workshops will explore cutting-edge research in counselling psychology and clinical practice on the 11 and 12 May.

Dr Diane Bray said ‘The conference will showcase scholarship and counselling psychology practice and critical debate for exchanging ideas and learning the latest advances within the field. The conference will also see the launch of a major new book that reviews research findings in the child and adolescent therapy field Essential research findings in child and adolescent therapy (Sage publications). The book is co-edited by Dr Jacqueline Hayes and Professor Mick Cooper and contains two chapters by Dr Hayes reviewing the latest evidence in the field and its implications for practice.

Ruth Anderson, a Professional Doctorate student at the University of Roehampton will receive the Certificate of Recognition PCCS Books Student Prize 2018 for her conference submission ‘Cancer patients' experiences of the therapeutic relationship during therapy: a review of studies using a systematic approach’. The award will be given on Friday 11 May at the conference.
