Sounds of Intent, Professor Adam Ockelford's music teaching resource for children and young people with learning disabilities, is recommended in a recently published government policy paper. Titled The Power of Music to Change Lives, the paper is an extensive list of resources for music educators, and every listed resource is also referenced directly in the national plan for music education. Sounds of Intent is listed under a heading of Support for Young People, alongside The Amber Trust, a charity founded by Professor Ockelford in 1994 that provides music opportunities for blind and partially sighted children.
