A digital handbook aimed at dance artists working within community settings has been launched by the University of Roehampton in collaboration with European Dance Houses in five countries and the University of Zagreb.

Professor Sara Houston has written the guidebook as part of the Erasmus Plus funded project Empowering Dance 2 which aims to equip dance artists with the tools to communicate and engage with the soft skills used in their practice.

Professor Sara Houston said "Soft skills have been endorsed by the World Economic Forum as being the most important skills for the future of work.

“The dance industry is no exception here. In fact, in participatory dance practices, soft skills are vital.

“This Guidebook is a learning and reflective resource to activate the dance artist's own soft skills living in their dance practice."

The publication was launched in Bassano del Grappa, Italy at the Bmotion International Dance Festival on Sunday, 21 August.
