On our Improving Outcomes in Special and Inclusive Education (Certificate of Lifelong Learning), our priority is ensuring that you graduate with a professional skillset. This incorporates;

  • Providing ambitious Teaching and Special Needs Assistants a career boost by gaining university-level training to work with SEND children.
  • Understanding the role of Teaching Assistants.
  • Understanding how to run interventions for students with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities.

These three strands will ensure that you are ready for the practical realities of working within the education sector.

How you'll learn

The programme runs over two terms. Students succesfully completing it will be awarded a Certificate in Lifelong Learning. It consists of two modules, each bearing 20 undergraduate credits, which will be assessed by criteria that reflect students' current job roles – for example it might involve evaluating an intervention, making a resource for a student or reflecting on the different techniques for providing support in the classroom.
