This course is offered as a degree with foundation year – a four-year programme which provides an additional foundation year at the beginning of the degree, that will give you academic and practical experience, as well as the skills you need to ensure you are equipped to successfully complete your chosen degree.

This degree will provide a modern perspective on these interrelated issues.

On our BA Politics International Relations, and History, our priority is ensuring that you graduate with a professional skillset. This incorporates;

• Analysing the interplay of global affairs in the past present and future

• Gaining a comprehensive understanding of political systems, international relations and their place in history

• Understanding how politics and international relations have played through history is important in making an impact

• Learning traditional research skills

• Learning digital literacies to uncover the past and current affairs

You’ll also develop the attributes you need to succeed in the workplace, including:

How you'll learn

Experience a dynamic, contemporary curriculum working with leading experts.

Working in both small groups and individually, you’ll enjoy a mix of lectures and seminars as you work through progressive modules, including:

• American History from Columbus to Cold War

• Cities and Empires

• An Introduction to Political Studies and Skills

• Comparative Government and Politics

In year 2 you will study the Applied Humanities: Professional Practice and Placement module, which will allow you to apply your skills in hands-on experiences. In Year 3, you will study the new Humanities Project module, which will support projects across the humanities disciplines.

Throughout the course, you’ll be supported by a dedicated and passionate team of lecturers and sector professionals.

What is validation?

Curriculum review is the regular and systematic monitoring and reviewing of programmes. It is a normal process in the sector and it is the way by which the university ensures that your course remains up-to-date and relevant.
